Sunday Drive to Ohiopyle
I am taking Harrington and Liam to PAX East next week in Boston, so Laurie and I wanted to spend a little time together on Sunday just hanging out. We decided to take a trip out to Ohiopyle and see what was happening on an early Spring day.
I hadn’t been there since high school, and Laurie had never been there so we were due to make a trip and scope it out.
Get your Slaw Dog at (Totally can’t remember the place)
This BBQ place was up a flight of stairs from the main road coming into Ohiopyle. Next to a sweets shop. You can probably ask someone where you can get a SLAW DOG and they will be able to tell you.
Cucumber Falls at Ohiopyle State Park is a must see.
If you made it to Ohiopyle State Park in Pennsylvania, Cucumber Falls is a great stop. Its a short easy walk from the road and also has a path down to the Youghiogheny River. Its a pretty trafficed area but is still a beautiful site to see.
Rafting at Ohiopyle is in our near future.
There are all types of water skill levels at Ohiopyle, perfect for the rookie of the skilled rafter. Between Laurie, Harrington, Liam, and I, none of us have been whitewater rafting but given they have stretches safe enough for 4-year-olds, I am confident I can muster up enough courage to try out the rapids this summer!
Anyhow, if you haven’t ever been to Ohiopyle, or haven’t been here since Highschool like me, its worth a drive and a few hours to just stop in or a few days to experience all the hiking, bike riding, rafting, fishing, etc.
